Witnessed Cremation

What’s Included – No use of Chapel of Rest or visitation allowed

  • Bringing your loved one into our care from a local address within 15 miles of our office
  • The attention of our dedicated staff to make and guide you through the funeral arrangements and administration
  • Provision of the ‘Medway Coffin’ fitted and furnished, suitable for cremation
  • We will prepare and dress your loved one in a gown to match the interior of our ‘Medway Coffin’
  • We will care for and accommodate your loved one for up to 21 days prior to the cremation
  • Provision of the classic* hearse, proceeding directly to the nearest crematorium (Southend or Basildon)
  • The coffin will be received into the crematorium chapel by wheeled bier
  • A Funeral Director for the duration of the witnessed cremation to support and guide you
  • The service will take place on a day specified by ourselves in collaboration with the family

What’s not included

  • Specific choice of date and time of funeral service – we will work with you to find a mutually convenient date
  • Bringing the deceased into our care beyond a 15-mile radius (an additional mileage charge will apply)
  • Support and assistance in placing floral orders or newspaper notices
  • A separate funeral service or celebration taking place before proceeding to the local crematorium or cemetery
  • A limousine to follow the hearse (limousines are only available with our select arrangements)
  • A choice of coffin (choice of coffin only available with our select arrangements)
  • Third party fees (disbursements)

Services that may be added to the witnessed cremation service (fees as stated)

  • Use of the Chapel of Rest at our head office, for three visits, in hours, with embalming and dressing £355.00
  • Taking of locks of hair, fingerprints or portions of ashes (per item) £15.00
  • Delivering the ashes within a 15-mile radius, during working hours £50.00
  • Arranging the Interment of the Ashes and administrative support £175.00
  • Additional accommodation above 21 days at the family’s request, from date of death (per day) £15.00

N.B. All witnessed cremation services at our local crematoria take place at 9am.
*We reserve the right to use either the classic or modern hearse dependent on our operational commitments.
